This is exactly why we enjoy getting out to events and auctions like this — you never quite know what you’re going to see next.
We spent some time at Cheffins ahead of their latest sale, and as always, there was a proper mix of machinery, classics and the slightly unexpected scattered around the yard.
Here’s just a snapshot of what caught our eye.
A proper showstopper
Right up there with the most eye-catching things on site was this incredible vintage lorry and showman’s-style living wagon setup.
The detailing, the signwriting, the presence… it’s the sort of thing you could walk past twice and still spot something new.
Honest and unspoilt
At the other end of the scale, this well-worn Jowett Bradford stood quietly with plenty of character.
Faded paint, signs of a working life, and just the right amount of patina — the kind of thing that tells its own story without needing much explanation.
A bit of contrast
Parked nearby, an Austin-Healey Sprite added something completely different to the mix.
Small, simple and unmistakable, it’s always interesting seeing cars like this alongside commercials and utility vehicles.
Old-school presence
There were also a couple of proper traditional saloons sitting together, including a Rover P5 and a pre-war model alongside it.
Big chrome grilles, upright styling and that unmistakable presence — cars from a very different era, but still drawing attention.
The everyday classics
Further along, things shifted into more familiar territory.
A Mk1 Golf GTI, an E30 BMW convertible and an MG Midget were all lined up — the sort of cars many people remember, owned, or still keep an eye out for.
A bit of character
And then something like this Citroën 2CV Dolly.
Quirky, simple and full of charm — the kind of car that doesn’t need to try too hard to get noticed.
And plenty more besides
That’s the thing with auctions like this — it’s never just one type of vehicle.
From commercials to sports cars, projects to presentable classics, there’s always a bit of everything if you take the time to have a proper look around.
This is exactly why we enjoy getting out to places like Cheffins — you never quite know what’s going to turn up, but there’s always something interesting if you look closely enough.
We’ll be sharing a few of the results over on our Facebook page over the next few days.
