You don’t need a car to feel nostalgic.

We spotted these going through Cheffins last weekend, and it’s a perfect reminder that vintage signs are a market in their own right.
While automotive signs are always popular, it’s far from the whole picture.
Old petrol and oil signage sits alongside:
• Shop signs
• Advertising boards
• Ice cream and food branding
• Household product adverts
• Even things like medical or safety signage
It’s all part of the same world — and it’s all collectible.
That’s what makes this space so interesting.
In fact, with signs… condition can actually add to the appeal.
Fading, rust, chips, and wear all tell a story.
A pristine reproduction might look nice, but an original with genuine age? That’s what people really want on their walls, in garages, or as part of a collection.
One sign is nice.
A group of them? That’s where it gets properly exciting.
Whether it’s a mix of enamel advertising, garage pieces, or general period signage, collections bring variety — and they make a trip worthwhile.
That’s especially true for us.
And not just motoring-related ones.
If it’s period, interesting, and has that nostalgic feel, we want to see it.
Whether it’s:

It’s all of interest.
This is one of those areas that keeps growing quietly in the background.
People are building themed garages, decorating workshops, or just wanting something with character on the wall — and original signage ticks every box.
It’s visual, it’s nostalgic, and it’s getting harder to find.
