Subaru Leone Coupe 1.8 4WD Turbo

From the seller: “Here we have for sale my mega rare Subaru Leone Coupe 1.8 4WD Turbo with switchable 4WD.

It is a regrettable sale but I have owned the car for 7 years and its likely to be another 7 years before I get around to doing anything with it! having said that I am not going to give the car away and it will happily go back into its dry storage if it doesn’t sell so I am not interested in any silly offers of a couple of hundred quid.

The car has been off the road for the past 21/22 years (Tax disk in window expiring in year 2000) and the owner prior to me had owned the car since 1990. It was stored a wooden garage and previous owner sold the car when the wooden garage it was stored in pretty much started to collapse around the car! It has only covered a indicated 71,000 miles although there is no paperwork to back this up, all I have is the V5 in my name.

It is powered by EA82 1.8 turbocharged engine with switchable 4WD, manual gearbox, the car runs and drives under its own power, although there is only hand brake (brake lines were corroded and have been partially replaced). It is well spec’d for the age of it with pillarless doors, electric windows and mirrors, sunroof, a really cool retro car which needs saving, not least for its scarcity, there are only 6 listed on howmanyleft (listed as SUBARU 1.8 4WD TURBO COUPE on V5) and 5 of these are on SORN so likely to be much less. There were only 274 registered in the UK in the early 90’s when they were almost new.

As you can tell from the pictures it needs quite a lot of work, and it is listed as requiring full restoration, having said that it doesn’t appear to be in as bad a condition underneath as the condition of the body work suggests, mainly a little crusty underneath and the bodywork looks to have corroded from the seams out in some places.”
