That’s why a new initiative from eBay could be welcome news for enthusiasts across the UK.
eBay Introduces Easy and Free Returns
eBay has announced the launch of Easy and Free Returns on eligible new vehicle parts and accessories sold through its marketplace.
Available on qualifying items priced above £10, the scheme allows buyers to return products free of charge within 30 days of delivery. The rollout is already underway and is expected to be fully implemented across all eligible listings by July.
For anyone who regularly buys parts online, whether that’s service items, trim pieces, performance upgrades or hard-to-find restoration components, it removes one of the biggest concerns associated with ordering from home.
Most Motorists Want Free Returns
The launch follows new research commissioned by eBay which suggests returns policies have a significant impact on purchasing decisions.
According to the survey, 70 per cent of British motorists say they are more likely to buy from an online retailer when simple and free returns are available.
Half of those questioned admitted they had previously chosen one retailer over another specifically because free returns were offered.
Meanwhile, among motorists who had returned an item during the past year, more than half said paying return postage was their biggest frustration. Complicated return procedures ranked closely behind.
Good News for Project Car Owners

For enthusiasts, that’s probably the key takeaway.
Ordering parts online will never be completely risk-free, especially when dealing with older vehicles, modified cars and restoration projects. However, the ability to return eligible items without additional cost should make buying parts online a little less stressful.
And if it means fewer expensive mistakes during a restoration, that’s something most project car owners can get behind.
