First launched in 2022, Hagerty’s Hill Climb returns for 2024
Hagerty, an automotive lifestyle brand and leading specialist insurance provider, hosts a number of automotive events around the world, including leading UK events such as the Festival of the Unexceptional and Radwood UK. Launched in 2022, their Hagerty Hill Climb has become a firm fixture on the motoring enthusiast calendar, returning to the iconic Shelsley Walsh course for a great day of hill climbing action on Saturday 11th May.
Hagerty has always encouraged owners of classic and enthusiast vehicles to use them as intended, and this event presents the perfect opportunity for owners to enjoy their cars in a safe, and non-competitive environment. Drivers who wish to navigate this renowned motorsport venue can do so for just £135, a price which guarantees at least 3 hillclimb runs as well as complimentary food and drink throughout the day. And it doesn’t matter what you drive, be it a historic racer, a modern supercar or a daily driver, as all types of vehicle are welcome.
Shelsley Walsh also provides the perfect place to watch great cars in action. Set in the stunning Worcestershire countryside it offers an endless choice of vantage points from which to spectate, and a short walk up the hill offers outstanding views of the cars and surrounding scenery. Away from the action, there will be plenty of options for food and drink, including a fully-licensed bar and a great coffee shop with a number of food options, making this a great day out for drivers and spectators alike.
Tickets start at just £27 per car, meaning a family can enjoy a full day of motorsport action for less than the price of a trip to the cinema. New for 2024 is the offer of overnight camping on Friday 10th May. Priced at just £30 per pitch (tent, caravan, or motorhome), the price includes free toilets and showers and is situated alongside the Shelsley Walsh paddock area.
Hagerty International Managing Director Mark Roper said, “Hagerty prides itself on providing interesting and innovative ways for car enthusiasts to use their vehicles, be it a gathering at our Bicester Heritage Clubhouse or an event like our annual Festival of the Unexceptional, but our annual Hill Climb at Shelsley Walsh takes that to another level. Here owners can drive their cars on one of the best hill climb courses in the world, with no pressure and lots of fun, while also having a great day out with their friends and family. It really is an event not to miss.”
Gates open at 8.30am, with the first cars away from the start line at 9.00am. Tickets are strictly limited across all categories. To book, click here.
Hill Climbing is one of Britain’s oldest forms of motorsport and Shelsley Walsh is regarded as one of the best hill climb venues in the world. Set in the stunning Worcestershire hills it opened in 1905, and has held events continuously since then, only pausing for World War II and the COVID 19 pandemic. The fastest time ever on the hill was recorded in 2021 when Sean Gould completed the 1000-yard (910m) course in just 22.37 seconds.
