From the seller: “Classic 1972 Mercedes SL350 V8 Auto MOT & TAX Exempt – Barn Find – Project car.
Stunning and highly sought after classic car -Tax & Mot exempt!
It has a V8 petrol engine and automatic gearbox (condition of both unknown)
I acquired it before the pandemic from a collector, whom sadly passed away and had it stored in one of his barns/sheds. The car is now in my name and I have a new DVLA log book for it , ready to be transferred to the new owner.
Initially, I planned to restore it myself , but unfortunately just don’t have the time.
Since finding it, all I’ve done is clean it, cover it with a Mercedes SL all weather cover and tarpaulin and stored it in another barn (as shown in images). Now I’m selling it, I’ve replaced all four tyres with brand new replacements, as the originals had perished.
Please be aware, this car is a ‘non-runner’. I don’t know what would need doing to the engine to get it running .
The engine bay looks to be all there and in reasonable cosmetic condition, but again please bear in mind that it will need professional renovation to make it road worthy. It has sat idle for the last 12 years.
This will also be the case for many other components of the car – brakes – etc, etc.
The car has had a respray at some point in its life, which has now started to bubble in places. There is some serious rusting to the floor pan at the front, which is common on these early models, but the bulkhead is sound.
A serious buyer would probably want to inspect it first – this I would recommend and you’d be most welcome.”
