If you’ve ever fancied arriving at a classic car show with everyone pointing, smiling and reaching for their phones, this might be the Jaguar for you.
Heading to Historics Auctioneers’ Summer Serenade sale at Windsorview Lakes on 18th July is this wonderfully over-the-top 2001 Jaguar XK8 Convertible, transformed into a tribute to Austin Powers’ famous Union Flag ‘Shaguar’ from the 2002 film Austin Powers in Goldmember.
Best of all? It’s being offered without reserve.
Groovy, Baby!
Although this isn’t the original movie car, it’s a faithful tribute that captures the spirit perfectly.
Finished in an eye-catching Union Flag wrap, it’s guaranteed to attract attention wherever it goes. Historics says the current owner has enjoyed taking it to Jaguar gatherings and popular classic car events, where it regularly earns waves, smiles and plenty of thumbs-up from the public.
Whether you love the films or simply appreciate something a bit different, there’s no denying this Jaguar has serious presence.
More Than Just Fancy Dress
Behind the patriotic wrap sits a proper Jaguar grand tourer.
The 2001 facelift XK8 is powered by Jaguar’s silky-smooth 4.0-litre V8, with the vendor describing it as being “smooth as a hot knife through butter”, offering effortless performance while remaining impressively refined.
The facelift model also benefits from the later interior, which Historics describes as being in lovely order.
Recent work includes a service and replacement brake discs, while the car is supplied with an MoT valid until May 2027, together with a history file containing previous certificates and invoices.
Offered Without Reserve
Perhaps the biggest surprise is that this fun-filled Jaguar is offered without reserve.
With a guide price of £5,000-£8,000, it represents a chance to own a distinctive XK8 for considerably less than many ordinary examples.
If the Union Flag wrap isn’t your style, it could always be removed. But we’d argue that would spoil half the fun.
Fancy A Closer Look?
Historics has published a comprehensive gallery showing the car inside and out, making it well worth browsing before the sale.
Whether you’re an Austin Powers fan, a Jaguar enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates cars that don’t take themselves too seriously, this XK8 is guaranteed to put a smile on your face.
