A Vauxhall Astra GTE went under the hammer at Anglia Car Auctions — and as ever with these, it didn’t take long for opinions to form.
Watch the full auction play out below:
At first glance, this looked like it might land somewhere around guide. That’s usually where these sit — solid interest, but not always fireworks.
But once bidding got going, it became clear there was a bit more appetite in the room.
The bidding didn’t explode — but it didn’t stall either.
That’s often the difference. When a car keeps moving without hesitation, it usually means there are at least a couple of buyers properly in the game.
In this case, it pushed on just beyond guide — not a huge jump, but enough to raise eyebrows.
The Astra GTE has always been one of those cars.
For some, it’s pure nostalgia. For others, it still sits in the shadow of its rivals. But either way, when a good one comes up, people pay attention.
Values have been creeping in recent years, and results like this suggest the market is still active — especially for tidy, usable examples.
This particular car was offered through Anglia Car Auctions in April 2026.

The takeaway?
It sold for a little over guide — a solid result that shows there’s still demand when the right car comes up.
That’s the question.
Was it just strong money… or exactly where the market is now?

The British government has recently been encouraging households to prepare for three days of disruption, with advice about keeping food, water, torches and even a wind-up radio available. All very sensible. But we’ve just discovered what might be the ultimate survival kit ...
There’s something about a well-preserved 1980s Vauxhall that really takes us back. And this 1986 Cavalier SRi, finished in its original Astral Silver and Anthracite two-tone paintwork, was a particularly appealing example. Just 48,304 miles showing, three previous owners, original dealer details and the distinctive appearance that made the SRi one of Vauxhall’s most recognisable [&...
There was a time when a trip to the local motor spares shop could result in coming home with something you never knew you needed. Perhaps it was a new gear knob. A pair of auxiliary mirrors. One of those little bottles of Feu Orange air freshener. Or a gadget that promised to make driving [&...
