Possibly one of the most sought-after of all the retro Fords, this MK2 Escort RS2000 has already caused quite a stir on the internet.
From the seller: “My RS2000 is quite a special car. Since it was rebuilt in 1985 with a new shell, it has only done 19,000 miles.
It was built with a brand new Ford AVO group 1 racing engine giving approx 150hp fitted to a world cup cross member. The front brakes are uprated with AP Lockheed 4 pot calipers and 10.5 inch vented discs while the rear brakes have been uprated to discs; all have braided hoses fitted.
All of the dampers are by Bilstein with the front springs being Ford AVO while the rear springs are single leaf, de-cambered by Gartrac and again an AVO item. The rear axle has a panhard link fitted and the front MacPherson struts are mounted on roller bearings. The front suspension is compression strutted. All suspension, seats and harness pickup points are strengthened.
As can been seen from the photos the car needs a sympathetic restoration as it has sat for a number of years.
The engine has surface rust on it, however the radiator does have its original antifreeze in it, the engine has a good quantity of oil in it and the engine turns by hand.”
