1980 Mercedes Benz 450 SEL 6.9

From the seller: “An incredibly rare car, recent barn find where it has lain since 1993, these 6.9 litre SEL were the top of the tree in the 70’s and 80’s, twice the price new of a standard 450 SEL, nearly 300 bhp / 405 lb ft of torque, 0-60 in just 7 seconds was unheard of at the time for a 2 ton car.

Usually owned by heads of state or business tycoons, James Hunt the F1 driver had one for years.

This particular car is now in need of a full restoration, its well worth doing though as these bring very strong money when done, a quick look on a couple of classic websites threw a few up at over £50k.

This was supplied new by Swinford motors and was originally their demonstrator, the service books and handbooks are here stamped up to 140k exclusively at Swinford motors (currently showing 213,000 mls) also lots of invoices over the years, the v5 is here.”
