This Vauxhall Royale is a rare car and has been a ‘project-in-waiting’ for long time now. It needs a new owner.
From the seller: “It is a 1979 Vauxhall Royale saloon. These were a very rare car when new as they were built & priced to compete with the likes of Mercedes & BMW & although they had the luxury & finesse of the higher marque cars it still had the Vauxhall Griffin badge so people wouldn’t pay the premium.
It has a straight 6 2.8 carburettor petrol engine with a 3 speed automatic gearbox.it has all the luxuries of the day including velour & wood trim, electric windows all round, power steering,tilt/slide sunroof, radio cassette (that it still has these are like hens teeth to find),alloy wheels, headlamp wash/wipe the list is endless.it even has spot lamps from the era.
The story of this car is I bought it in May 2021 from a gentleman who had purchased it from a deceased estate.it had sat in a dry garage for 28 years.it was last taxed in 1993.The car had no keys so was sold as it was where it stood.it had the steering lock & ignition broke to manoeuvre it from its tight resting place.i had it delivered buying blind.
The v5 showed 2 keepers, the deceased owner & the supplying dealer.i sent it off so it is now in my name showing 3 keepers.it had the taxation class changed to historic & taxed (which is free) as it is mot exempt aswell as free from any stupid clean air zones our mental government come up with which baffles me but it’s true.i insured it on a classic policy for £78 for the year.
It is showing 21338 miles which I believe is genuine but have no proof as there is no dvla record of any mot.”
