You know how you’ve got that really funny mate who, when he sees a flat tyre, says, “It’s okay, it’s only flat at the bottom”? Well, he’d struggle with this one, as the tyres are flat at the top, too!
That said, this is a very genuine looking car and a Mini enthusiast will be all over it like a cheap suit.
From the seller: “1977 Mini Clubman 1100 in Harvest Gold – Project – Spares / Repair
This Mini Clubman 1100 was a 1 lady owner car from new, until she then passed away in May 1989 & it was passed onto the daughter (same family from new). The car was in continual use up until 6 or 7 years ago when the owner decided to tackle some corrosion on the passenger side front wing, of course the job was started but never finished – the car has been stood outside since. Despite its sorry state the car is very original, still retaining all the original interior, body numbers / ID tags. There is also an extensive history with the car, countless old MOT certificates, original handbook & BMC passport with service stamps & a folder full of old service invoices.
With this history, mileage & the fact it’s effectively 1 owner, in my opinion this mini is too good to scrap / break, however any potential bidders need to be aware this is a full restoration & not for the faint hearted, it’s certainly not something that will be done in a few weekends. As a bodyshop we’ve certainly seen worse – but this is pretty much as major as they come. Some would argue it needs a shell, it is salvageable but it will need hours of work putting in & the majority of the panels including floors will need replacing.”
