Few vehicles attract attention quite like a classic police car.
Whether genuine or recreated, they instantly transport people back to another era, and this 1971 Morris Minor certainly generated plenty of interest when it crossed the block at Anglia Car Auctions.
A Morris Minor With A Story
Presented in traditional police-style blue and white livery and topped with a blue beacon, the Minor looked every inch the period patrol car.
According to the auction catalogue, the vendor believed it to be a genuine ex-police vehicle, although prospective buyers were left to draw their own conclusions regarding its history.
Either way, it was one of the more unusual entries in the sale.
Low Mileage Showing
The auction description recorded 51,521 miles on the odometer.
The car was offered with both current and previous V5 documents, although no additional history file was supplied.
Its last MoT had expired in 2019 and Anglia Car Auctions advised that recommissioning would be required before returning the car to regular road use.
An Unmistakable Crowd-Pleaser
Morris Minors have always enjoyed a loyal following, but unusual examples tend to stand out.
Whether bidders were attracted by the possibility of genuine police history, the eye-catching appearance or simply the charm of a Minor presented in such distinctive fashion, there was no doubt this car drew attention.

The Result
When bidding concluded, the Morris Minor achieved £3,564 including buyer’s premium.
That placed it comfortably within its £3,000-£4,000 estimate range and demonstrated that unusual, conversation-starting classics still have a strong place in today’s auction market.
