We dropped a car off at Anglia Car Auctions yesterday ahead of their June 20-21 2026 sale, but quickly found ourselves getting distracted by the steady stream of interesting vehicles arriving on site.
One of the standouts was this wonderful 1966 Morris FG recovery truck, which slowly burbled its way into the auction yard sounding absolutely superb.
Naturally, we ended up filming it.
A Proper Old Recovery Truck
The old FG immediately drew attention as it reversed carefully into place, complete with that unmistakable engine note that only old commercial vehicles seem to have.
It’s the sort of thing many people would probably walk straight past nowadays, but old recovery trucks have built a genuine following over recent years, especially honest-looking examples that haven’t been over-restored or modernised beyond recognition.
This one looked wonderfully usable and full of character.
We Spoke To The Vendor
We had a quick chat with the vendor while the Morris was being parked and he told us the truck had been dry-stored for some time, although it still appeared mechanically sound.
Interestingly, he also mentioned he owns several other unusual vehicles and plans to bring a Mk1 Ford Transit to ACA soon as well, which definitely got our attention.
At the moment we don’t have any further details regarding reserve price, guide or full specification, but we’ll update things once more information becomes available.
More To Come Soon
We’ve already uploaded a short clip of the Morris arriving at ACA because the sound of it was simply too good not to share.
No music, no narration — just the truck doing its thing.
We’ll also be uploading a longer walkaround video to our Facebook page soon, so keep an eye out for that as well.

Our rare 1974 Austin Allegro Mk1 is officially heading to Anglia Car Auctions for their June classic sale — and after spending around 25 years hidden away in a garage, it’s hard to believe just how well the little Austin has come up. When we first uncovered the car, it was thick with dust and […]
There’s something about old cars that never really leaves you. Ask almost any enthusiast and they’ll tell you about “the one that got away” — the car they sold too cheaply, the project they never should have let go, or the registration number they can still remember decades later.
