Every now and then, something turns up that properly stops you in your tracks — and this 1922 Ford Model TT Omnibus is exactly that.
We spotted it ahead of this weekend’s Cheffins auction in Ely, and it’s easily one of the most interesting vehicles we’ve seen in a long time.
A 1922 Ford Model TT Omnibus
Based on the Ford Model TT — the heavy-duty version of the Model T — this particular example has been fitted with a period-style omnibus body, complete with signage for the Norman Jr Omnibus Co. of Halstead.
From the outside alone, it’s full of character. The tall body, large windows and that unmistakable early commercial vehicle stance give it real presence.
Up close, it’s even better. The patina, the wear, the details — this is the kind of thing you just don’t replicate.
A Proper Piece of Early Motoring History
Vehicles like this weren’t built to be preserved — they were built to work. Which makes the fact this has survived all the more impressive.
Whether it ends up in a collection, used for events, or simply kept as a display piece, it’s hard to think of anything else quite like it.
Heading to Auction at Cheffins
The omnibus is set to go under the hammer at Cheffins as part of their classic sale this weekend (25th April, 2026).
And as always, you can bid online if you can’t make it in person.
The Kind of Thing You Just Don’t Expect to See
This is exactly why we enjoy getting out to events and auctions like this — you never quite know what you’re going to see next.
Something like this isn’t just a vehicle, it’s a proper slice of history… and it’s great to see it still out there.
We spend a lot of time out and about finding vehicles like this, and every now and then something truly unexpected turns up.
