Oh Lord won’t you buy me a 11,899-mile 1992 190E classic Mercedes-Benz

The chance to own a survivor Mercedes-Benz 190E with just 11,899 miles is being offered by Car & Classic, Europe’s leading classic and specialised vehicle website. The seven-day auction of the car starts on 7th March, 2021, and will see this special Mercedes-Benz 190E, which is in near-concours, original condition, offered without a reserve.

Ordered new to Guernsey in late 1992, the first and only owner has meticulously maintained and sparingly used their Mercedes-Benz 190E, which now resides in England. Finished in Arctic White paint over blue cloth, an iconic Nineties specification, it’s been used sparingly. When not in use it was kept in a warm, dry garage under a tailored car cover (which comes with the car). It’s not only a testament to the quality of the vehicle, but also to the owner’s ability to care for it.

The original Mercedes-Benz toolkit is present and correct, as well as its book pack and wallet, too. There’s also ample paperwork to reflect the car’s maintenance and servicing work as well as its low mileage.

Since 2013 the car has travelled just 1,000 miles, with its total being just 11,899 miles from new. Used sparingly, this special 190E has been driven to and from the MOT centre, where it remains advisory-free, as well as being driven on semi-regular warm ups only. The vehicle has a fresh MOT until February 2022 should the car’s future owner wish to press it into daily duties, although indications suggest it would be better suited as a museum or Concours piece.

“With Mercedes-Benz and Nineties-era cars in particular being some of the most sought after in the marketplace at the moment, this 190E ticks all of the boxes and then some. However, its condition is the real star and draw to this fantastic auction listing,” said Chris Pollitt, head of editorial of Car & Classic. “It’s clear to see this owner has cherished this car. Thanks to being carefully stored when not in use, and having hardly been driven anyway, everything is just as it should be; seals aren’t cracked, the plastics are still black and show no signs of bloom. The tyres are the only thing to have been changed due to expiry/age rather than mileage. You just don’t find gems like this regularly and we’re delighted to list it on Car & Classic’s auction platform. It truly is a once in a lifetime opportunity, you just won’t find another like this.”

Originally sold in large quantities in the UK market and overseas, the 190E is one of the most well-known Nineties Mercedes-Benz models and iconic silhouettes. Popular in the UK in period and with an abundance of models on the used market, consumers rarely kept their cars in original, barely used condition. Hence why this one-owner, low-mileage example offered for auction with Car & Classic is a very rare find.
