The Cambridgeshire No Reserve Barn Find Vintage Car Sale from Humbert & Ellis Ltd looks like the sort of online auction enthusiasts dream about stumbling across. Hidden away inside dusty outbuildings are rare pre-war classics, unusual French cyclecars and long-forgotten projects, all heading into a no reserve online sale closing on 18th May 2026.
The Cambridgeshire No Reserve Barn Find Vintage Car Sale is being run entirely online by Humbert & Ellis Ltd, with collection strictly by appointment from Royston, Cambridgeshire on Tuesday 2nd June. The catalogue is packed with fascinating machinery that clearly hasn’t seen daylight in years, and several of the entries are the sort of obscure survivors most enthusiasts will never encounter in person.
Why The Cambridgeshire No Reserve Barn Find Vintage Car Sale Has Enthusiasts Talking
Leading the catalogue is undoubtedly the extraordinary 1934 Crossley Streamline, described as one of only two known survivors. Even among serious pre-war enthusiasts, the Streamline is an exceptionally unusual sight. Inspired by aviation and airship design, the futuristic Crossley featured rear-engine layout, independent suspension and dramatic teardrop styling decades ahead of its time.
The example in this sale comes with a fascinating history and appears exactly the sort of long-hidden survivor enthusiasts love uncovering. Stored for many years and now offered without reserve, it represents a genuinely rare opportunity to acquire one of Britain’s most unusual pre-war cars.
Elsewhere in the Cambridgeshire No Reserve Barn Find Vintage Car Sale is another highly unusual Crossley in the shape of a 1935 2L Sports Saloon. Humbert & Ellis describe it as one of the rarest surviving pre-war cars, with only a handful thought to remain. Presented in dusty but remarkably complete condition, it looks exactly the sort of untouched restoration project many collectors actively search for.
Rare Pre-War Classics Hidden Away For Decades
The sale doesn’t stop with the Crossleys either. One of the more charming entries is a tiny 1925 Alcyon Cyclecar, a lightweight French machine powered by a 500cc twin-cylinder engine. These early cyclecars occupy a fascinating space between motorcycles and full-sized cars, and surviving examples are incredibly scarce today.
Another unusual French entry is the c1924 Francon Tourer Cyclecar or Voiturette. Humbert & Ellis note that very few survive, and this one appears exactly as discovered, complete with years of dust and storage grime still intact.
For more traditional British motoring fans, there’s also a 1932 Alvis 12/50 TJ Two Seater & Dickey. Although recommissioning work will be needed after years off the road, the car appears largely complete and represents an attractive route into pre-war Alvis ownership.
Meanwhile, a 1937 Wolseley 12/48 also features in the online auction. Presented as a matching numbers example with buff logbook and signs of long-term dry storage, it looks like another genuinely untouched survivor.
Humbert & Ellis Online Auction Features Extraordinary Barn Finds
Part of the appeal of the Cambridgeshire No Reserve Barn Find Vintage Car Sale is the sheer honesty of the vehicles. Most remain dusty, unrestored and exactly as discovered, which gives the entire catalogue a proper time-capsule feel.
The accompanying photographs only add to that atmosphere. Cars remain tightly packed inside timber outbuildings, many still coated in decades of dust, with some clearly not moved for years. It’s the sort of collection enthusiasts rarely get to see nowadays.
Importantly, every lot in the sale is being offered without reserve, which should make the online bidding particularly interesting once the auction closes on 18th May 2026.
