A 1980 Ford Escort RS2000 X-Pack went under the hammer — and this one didn’t hold back.
Guided at £60,000–£70,000, it already sat at the stronger end of the Escort market, but there was plenty about this car that suggested it might go further.
Watch how the bidding played out below:
From the outset, interest was high — and it wasn’t hard to see why.
A serious build with strong provenance
According to the catalogue, the car had been fully restored by one of the UK’s foremost Ford specialists, immediately putting it in a different league to many others on the market.
It’s also believed to have been supplied new by Zakspeed in Germany, backed up by an extensive history file — exactly the kind of detail buyers look for at this level.
Not everyone agreed on the spec
Interestingly, the interior colour sparked a bit of debate.
It’s not to everyone’s taste — and normally that sort of thing can hold a car back slightly.
But in this case, it didn’t seem to matter.
