The Raleigh Chopper Still Has That Effect on People
The Raleigh Chopper MK1, MK2 and MK3 still stop people in their tracks. If you grew up in the 1970s or 1980s, you will already know why. The high-rise handlebars, long saddle and unmistakable shape made the Raleigh Chopper one of the most recognisable bikes ever built, and decades later it still brings back memories the moment people see one.
At UK Barn Finds, we have had three original Raleigh Choppers in our collection for a while. They are a MK1, a MK2 and a MK3, and together they tell the story of how the Raleigh Chopper evolved over the years.
Three Original Raleigh Chopper Models
These three bikes are all original, all rideable and importantly not restored. They have been left with their age, wear and character intact, which suits bikes like these far better than over-restoration ever could.
The Raleigh Chopper MK1 has its own early appeal, the MK2 is the model many people remember best, and the MK3 shows how the design moved on. Put them side by side and you can see exactly why the Raleigh Chopper became such a British icon.
Why We Decided To Do Something Different
We did consider selling the bikes individually in the usual way, but in the end that did not feel quite right.
The Raleigh Chopper is one of those bikes that means more than the sum of its parts. People do not just see metal, paint and tyres. They remember wanting one, riding one or knowing someone who had one. There is a lot of nostalgia tied up in a Raleigh Chopper, and that is a big part of why these bikes still matter now.
A Raleigh Chopper MK1, MK2 and MK3 With Three Winners
So rather than sell the three bikes in the normal way, we decided to do something a bit different.
We are offering people the chance to own one of these three original Raleigh Choppers. That means three winners, with one bike going to each winner.
It felt like a fitting way to pass them on. These bikes deserve to go to people who genuinely appreciate them, and this felt like the right way to make that happen.
Find Out More About Our Raleigh Chopper Competition
We will be sharing more on each Raleigh Chopper over the coming weeks, including a closer look at the MK1, MK2 and MK3 and what makes each one special.
