I popped into Anglia Car Auctions to drop a few bits off and, as always, had a quick wander.
This 1975 Hillman Hunter GL immediately stood out.
It’s heading into their June sale, and while it might not be the loudest car in the room, it’s exactly the sort of honest, usable classic that’s starting to make a lot of sense again.
1975 Hillman Hunter GL – simple, usable classic
The Hillman Hunter sits right in the heart of 1970s British motoring.
A proper family saloon back in its day, built to compete with the Cortina and Marina. No gimmicks, no drama — just straightforward engineering and everyday usability.
And that’s exactly why cars like this are coming back into favour.
This one just feels right
What really stood out here was how complete and well-presented it is.
The deep red paint, black vinyl roof and tidy interior all give it that proper period feel. The wood dash and simple layout just take you straight back.
It doesn’t look over-restored or overdone — just a well-kept, honest car.
Why cars like this are getting attention again
The interesting shift at the moment isn’t just about big-money classics.
It’s cars like this that people are starting to look at again:
Affordable entry point Usable and simple to maintain Packed with nostalgia
And importantly, something a bit different from the usual crowd.
